Dear Young-Seok Shin,

If some one from your group could arrange transportation from Incheon to Gimpo airport for us, it would solve our problem. Would iy be possible ??

Thanks in advance.

Dear Ah Pong,

This is an answer from Jack Kung, a friend of mine, who works at Asiana Airline in Korea. Please see below.
I think you should better to ask the travel agent or the airline which you decide to use this time...
----------------------------------------------
As you mentioned about the matters for those players ( no matter where they come from), here is 2 options that they can choice:
1. If they fly with Asiana ailrines from there destion to Incheon:
On every FRI and Sun , there is a connection flight from Incheon to Jeju. which meana they can check-in there stuffs fm HKG or TPE or AUS to JEJU straight( no need to take it out at ICN airport). or,

2. I think Korea Airlines will have same connection between Incheon- Jeju service ,too.

all they have to do is check with travel agent and give their fly status. for example, TPE-ICN-JEJU ( their luggages will check in from TPE staright to JEJU).
-----------------------------------------------.

Dear Young-Seok Shin,

I have done a search. It seems that Asiana has one flight from Incheon to Jeju at 18:00
ASIANA AIRLINES, OZ 8551 Incheon 18:0 CJU 19:5

But the earlier flight from Hong Kong to Incheon is 13:10 and arriving at 17:45
ASIANA AIRLINES, OZ 722 Hong Kong 13:10 Incheon 17:45

With only 15 minutes gap to change plane, this route is not possible for us.

Anyway, we might take other airline from HK to ICN and then Asiana to CJU. Search continues ...

Taiwan Ah Sang tells me that there is direct flight from Taipei to Jeju at 8pm Thursday and return at 8pm Sunday too. Price is around HK$2,100 and flight time is a little more than 2 hours only. Thus, we can have transist at Taipei without changing airport while flight to Taipei costs around HK$1,000 with plenty of time slots available. Moreover, the route is much shorter and total flight time should be less than 4 hours.

The only concern is that we need to stay at Taipei on Sunday night and return to HK on Monday morning. It is inevitable for staying in hotel on Sunday night after the match. This is just a matter of staying in Jeju or Taipei.

I've asked Ah Sang to check the availability of tickets.

Dear HK pilots,

This is how we intend to travel to Jeju from Singapore.

We will be taking Cathay transit at HK to Seoul Incheon. Then take rail way to Gimpo airpot http://www.arex.or.kr/jsp/eng/main.jsp

From Gimpo take Asiana air to go Jeju. There are many time slots for the Asiana domestic flight, i think Korean air also offers many slots.

For your consideration.

By the way, we will be stopping over for a few days in Hongkong on the way back. I wonder if it is possible to visit your flying sites when we are there?

Regards,
Pang

I tried to arrange a 30 seats coach for transit between
two airports in seoul, if we can joint together
and share the cost, it will be more convenient
and save money.

There is a possibility that we can take Cathay Pacific from HK to ICN and then enroute to CJU without changing airport.

CATHAY PACIFIC, CX 410 Hong Kong 9:30 Incheon 14:5
ASIANA AIRLINES, OZ 8551 Incheon 18:0 CJU 19:5

I am not sure how much more expensive it will be if we fly on different airlines.

Anyway, as Pang suggested, if we take Asiana all the way, as such
ASIANA AIRLINES, OZ 722 Hong Kong 13:10 Incheon 17:45
ASIANA AIRLINES, OZ 8943 GMP 20:30 CJU 21:35

we can change airport from ICN to GMP by taking the communter train which departs every 12 minutes from ICN and the journey takes only 40 minutes. It is a bit more work but at least it is better than taking a bus I guess.

Dear Pang,
Sure, you are welcome to visit our flying sites on your way back. How long will you stay in Hong Kong? If you stay a bit longer, you may be able to join our F3F for the EPP foamy class sechudeled at 10 May.
Anyway, I will try to arrange a day off during this period to show you arround our flying sites.

Cheers!
Stanley

It seems more difficult to get a direct flight to Jeju than I thought. Frankly speaking, most of us thought there`re many direct flights.
I`m sorry for that we couldn`t help with the transportation from In-cheon to Gimpo. Anyway, I hope everything will go smoothly.

Dear Young-Seok Shin,

Don't worry too much, we will sort it out.

One question: if we take the commuter train from Inceon to Gimpo, can we carry large boxes into the train coach? Logically, I think it should be possible.

Cheers!

I will be going to Jeju but unfortunately I will not be able to take part in the race.

I will be arriving Incheon about 07:20 on 27 Apr. Will be catching the airport express train to Gimpo for internal to Jeju.

Is anybody arriving around this time may be can meet up?

Dear Stanley,

I had a talk with the person in charge at Arex, she told me that the baggage of passenger is limited, not over 30kg in weight and not over 158cm in size...

If the baggage is right size, not too big to carry into a passenger train, it would be O.K. But I think the box for gliders should be bigger than 158cm. Is there any transportation service of Airline for their passengers?

Dear Donny,

We have 7-hour break in Seoul on the way back, does that mean we would be able to do some shopping and sightseeing in Seoul?

Taking a night flight from HK to Jeju means we would have a whole day to practice prior to the contest, that's good!

Sorry, my mistake.

From Jeju to Gimpo flight should be
OZ8920 04May 1415/1520.

But the problem is, the min. group size
is 10 pax., we only have 9 pax now, need
one more to join, otherwise we have to share
the difference.

Hello fellow HK teammates,

Do you have any comment on the proposed itinerary by Donny? Basically, we will start our journey on 29 April (Wed) night, and sleep overnight on the plane. We should arrive at Jeju on early morning of 30 April (Thurs) and thus will have sometimes to tour around or get familiar with the flying site. As far as I know, the Taiwanese team will arrive at Jeju on Thursday's morning only 5 minutes later than us, although they will travel via Pushan instead of Seoul. We should be able to share the same bus to hotel organized by the Korean friends.

Our return trip is on 4 May (Monday) arriving HK at late evening. So I think we need to arrange holiday for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday.

Dear Young-Seok,

Thank you for your hospitality for receiving us in Jeju airport.
We have already fixed our traveling schedule as follow:

Hong Kong to Seoul(Incheon) by OZ724 30Apr 0030/0505
Seoul(Gimpo) by surface and to Jeju OZ8903 30Apr 0715/0820

Return trip
Jeju to Seoul(Gimpo) OZ8920 04May 1415/1520
Seoul(Incheon) by surface
Hong Kong OZ723 04May 1945/2230

I guess we will arrive at Jeju same day (30 Apr) as the Taiwan team and only 5 minutes earlier (8:20am) so it would be more convenient for your fellow Jeju pilots to pick us up in the airport.

At the moment, we have 6 pilots together with 2 spouses to go in this trip. There may be more in the time to come and I will let you know if there are more.

By the way, one of our pilots who has registered in the list can not make the trip this time, his name is Wing Wong, please remove his name from the list. However, we have another pilot who has decided to come, his name is Choi Wing Pong, and he will fly with his Ceres and RaceM, he will also join the banquet and his T-shirt size is large.

Kind regards

Stanley Chan

Thanks Stanley.

The entry is corrected as you asked and I told them, pilots in Jeju, your arrival time at Jeju Airport on 30th April. They would gladly to come to meet you Hong Kong team.

I would like to, but I can`t take a part in TR because I have to work then. I hope you have a good time with many other fellows who like the same hobby in Jeju.

I did all my job finally.
If you have any questions about hotel, slope etcs in Jeju, please contact with Joon Lee. Some of you can remember him. He`s been to Hong Kong before for the F3F competition.
