Post subject:  F3F competition for DIY sailplanes
Our Technical Master Mr. Pong-Pong proposes to hold an F3F competition for home-made sailplanes. The purpose is to promote the design and building technique of RC sailplanes. What's more satisfactory than winning an F3F competition with you own design and DIY? So let's start cleaning up your dining table and make your own model now!

The competition will be held sometime in 2011. Please feel free to raise your suggestions on this event. I'd suggest it is going to be held in August so we have plenty of time to make the models.

Pong-Pong has been transparent for many years and this is his first proposed function. Please do your best to support him. Otherwise I am afraid he will do some "silly things". :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: :twisted:

其實多唔多人參加呢？因為太少人玩就冇咁好玩。

以下是否可行呢？

1, 容許商品F3F機參加當日的比賽，好處是一定多人玩，而且商品機可作為DIY機的bench mark，唔好處係個個唔DIY剩玩F3F，又變成另一次非正式F3F :x :x

2, 容許使用別人設計製造(DIY)的飛機參賽，好處是應多些人能參與，但是否每個製作者都有時間造多幾隻機是一個疑問。而且也有少少違背故勵DIY飛機的原意。

3, 容許隊際參賽，可以一隊人同造一隻機，F3F比賽時輪流飛一隻機，呢個應比較易達成，但希望最後唔好三十人得三隻機 :lol: :lol:

有d仲話開始製作喎,咁佢做d?機呀??
是否同機種好d呢,想玩都要知規則喎 ??????

目的就係贏八月(暫定)的F3F賽,所以只須符合FAI-F3F模型要求就可以, So Simple :lol: :lol:

Dear all,

The objective of holding a DIY F3F contest is to enhance our in sight on aero dynamic and craftsmanship as well as to encourage creativity.

To clear the ambiguous, I have set some basic principles for the event.

1) The model must be home made by the pilot himself
2) Safety will be the utmost concern, the Contest Director shall ensure the model is ‘Sky-worthy’ (like roadworthy of a car)
3) No limitation on the materials. EPP, balsa or composite fabric is allowed. You can use solid brass for the entire model if you think fit
4) Wing area, wing load and wingspan etc, shall adhere to FAI’s F3F rules. So you could make a 60 inches racer or a 3 meter warship
5) The majority parts of the model shall come from raw material (servos, push rod and rudder horn etc, are exempted)
6) Carbon rods or strip (those commonly available in HK’s model shop) for reinforcement is allowed
7) Downloading the airfoil from open resource is allowed (e.g. HN-354, RG-15 and H5N1 etc.)
8) Shift-made is allowed. For example, you can use your mop pole at home to make the tail boom. However, you could not use any part of a broken fuselage as the substitution in your new model
9) The wing joiner is difficult to make / build by newcomer. With a view to encouraging participation, you can use any wing joiner in hand
10) Using any part of other model as the plug for making mould is not allowed. For example, you cannot use the wing of a Mini-NYX as the plug to make mould.
11) If the pilot have a model factory, he could not use his factory product for this game (Ah Kin, I am talking about you !)
