There is an interesting simulation and comparison of EM style 海灣 turn and split-s reversal turn. The conclusion drawn is in favor of the EM style.
阿邦,Donny 仲有你兩個未轉海灣飛法咋,點睇啊?

Hi Stanley,

Thanks for sharing, but I found that was somewhat misleading at the outset.
I have the same opinion with post # 13 and 14 upon watching the video. Besides, the paths were in 2D dimension and you must add a factor of 1.4 during the turn in EM to get the correct path length.

Lastly, I might change to 江南 style !

Skip that hypothetical simulation ! Simply re-look into the winning style in terms of practical & proven :

VR2004, VR2006, VR2010
TR2010, TR2011
WC2012

I don't think the distance make much difference, if there are any.
The style to use should match with the location and wind condition.
However, EM is more forgiving than reversal style.

Sometimes, a simple Bank & yank is better

VR2004, VR2006, VR2010
TR2010, TR2011
WC2012
They are 海灣飛場

EM was called 海灣飛法 in HK.
Why? because it is better for this type of location.

I think VR2006 at Scotland and TR 2010 at MOS are not 海灣 slopes and suitable for both EM and Split-S style but EM style wins at both occasions.

EM is a modified or improved 海灣 style.
