Hi Stanley,

I am 20th in the 2009 league so I am probably not qualified for TR  . However, TR is also the 10th league of 2010 and I don't want to miss it. What do you think :?:

Two possibilities:

1. Don't count TR2010 as league race and organize another once in October.

2. Allow pilots to discard October race if they are not participating in TR2010. The average score will be used to generate the 2010 league ranking list. The average score is the total score minus discard then divided by the total number of race held, so in this case, those who can not participate in TR2010 will be divided by a number minus one.

I think the second approach is more favorable.

Stanley

Dear fellow HK pilots,

We have now a total of 53 pilots registered in TR2010, of which 29 are from overseas and 24 are locals.
http://www.hkrcss.org/HKF3F/TR2010_pilot_list.html
Therefore, we need to apply the rule to select HK pilots in order to limit the total number of contestants to 50.
According to 2009 HK F3F league result
http://www.hkrcss.org/F3FGroup/league2009.jpg
Five HK pilots on the TR2010 registration list will unfortunately be removed from the list for the timing being; they are:
Alan Lau,
Philip Leung Chun Wai,
Lai Kwong Leung,
Albert Wong,
Clement Tsang

Sorry! Because we now have 29 overseas pilots, there may be one more place left for HK pilot, so we need to wait until August 8 this year league result. There is still a hope for you. However, since there may be some more registrations from oversea pilots, then, if this is the case, even the registered HK pilots who are now on the list may also be disqualified later. As far as I know, it is highly possibile as there are some European pilots who have shown interest to come.

I am sorry that we cannot satisfy all HK pilots. I hope that you guys would still be interested to help even you can not participate in TR2010 as contestants.

Thanks
Stanley

More update, just a new registration!

We have now 30 overseas pilots!
In that case,we have only 20 places qouta for HK pilots.
Final decision will be made after the registration deadline.

Cheers!

So, please give us some formal CD and setup training for the coming local races. We need to know every rules and arrangement to make sure no mistake happens in the TYPHOON RACE coz we may be too young.

Is there any other voluntee to be the CDs / Helpers now??

We now have 32 overseas pilots!
In that case, we can only have 18 local pilots.
Anyway, if the number of local pilots is pushed down to 15, I will discuss with the Taiwanese team to see whether they can cut down their number as well.

It is very difficult to allow more than 50 pilots for the 3-day contest, simple mathematics;
each pilot needs about 2 minutes for each run, the total number of minutes needed for a round for 50 pilots is 100 minutes. If we have luck to have good wind, and from 9:00 am to 5:00pm per day, we can approximately get 4 rounds a day. The maximum total number of rounds we can have for a 3-day event is only 11 rounds! This assumes wind is consistently ok. Practically, it should be less. I think that is just good enough for overseas pilots paying high traveling expense to participate in the contest.

Sorry, we just can't increase the number further! Perhaps, for the Typhoon Race next year, we can propose to the organizer to consider lengthen the duration to 4 days, or if possible to run a two slope camp.
